Help Us Finish
WASHINGTON: American Hero

We're raising funds to complete the final pick-up days and finish VFX and sound design.

The Ask

This is an invite-only fundraising round. It's small, it's personal, and it matters enormously: every dollar goes directly toward getting WASHINGTON: American Hero into its strongest possible shape. We are raising funds to finish the following.

We need to film George Washington's death scene, as well as him proposing to his wife Martha, and George discussing the future of his estate. These scenes have been carefully chosen to complete the film's story, and to fit into one 12 hr day at one location.

Here is a breakdown of where the funds will go:

  • Location rental (see a video from our location scout to the right)

  • Labor and supplies. On average, we pay our crew and cast $300/12 hr day.

    • Cast members (George Washington, Martha Washington, Moll, Doctor)

    • Crew (camera operator, gaffer, grip, make up artist, make up artist assistant, sound recordist, PA)

    • Make up kit fees, lighting kit fees, catering & craft services, insurance and petty cash

This is a tax-deductible donation

Every gift, at any level, moves us closer to the finish line.

About Our Sponsor

WASHINGTON: American Hero is fiscally sponsored by From the Heart Productions, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has helped independent filmmakers secure funding since 1993. This makes your donation tax-deductible in full.

Why Now

This November, we're taking WASHINGTON: American Hero to the American Film Market. This is one of the most important marketplaces in the industry, where distributors, sales agents, and buyers evaluate films for release. Arriving with a finished, polished film gives us the strongest possible position to secure distribution and get this story in front of audiences worldwide.

Your support right now is what gets us there.

About the Film

WASHINGTON: American Hero is the human story of George Washington, not the monument, but the man. At the heart of the film are the relationships that shaped our first president: his wife, his soldiers, and the enslaved people who served him, including Chef Hercules, his personal chef and one of the most celebrated culinary figures of 18th-century America. One of many true stories that history has largely overlooked, until now.
